Well, it's begun. My 40 days of significantly less restaurant eating. So I packed a lunch this morning, a nice salad, some chili, and yogurt with strawberries. Can't wait!
Honestly, I enjoy cooking and most of the time the food that I make myself is as good or better than food that I buy out. And there are all the health benefits of eating at home, all of the monetary benefits, etc. There's one thing that, no matter how many different ways you look at it, is a game changer. Dishes. I don't have a dishwasher, which means that I am the dishwasher. And I hate doing dishes. Actually, I hate most cleaning related activities (with the rather odd exception of putting laundry away, but I think that's because it's always vaguely like shopping, re-discovering all those clothes that I forgot I had since the last time I did laundry), but dishes hold a special place in my heart. Or hell. If anyone knows anyone who likes to do dishes, please let me know. I will feed them. Bonus points if it's a single man.
In other, more fun news, the potluck last night was fabulous. In addition to the lasagna that I took, there was red beans and rice with vegetarian sausage, jalapeno grits, cilantro lime shrimp cups ( I think I had 100 of those), pizza, beignets, cookies, brownies, and more that I can't remember right now. Needless to say, I left happy. We also watch the State of the Union, which was just amazing. I didn't get a chance to watch Senator Rubio's follow up speech, but I've heard that that was entertainment as well.
